Days ago, during the implementation of the 6 PM to 5 AM curfew hours, a viral video of a delivery rider and a barangay official circulated in social media. In the video, the rider was prevented by the implementing official to proceed to the delivery of porridge to a customer, “essential po ba si lugaw? Hinde, kase mabubuhay ang tao na walang lugaw,” she said. But the delivery rider also explained that their company is following the IATF, and he continued saying, “pagkain po ‘yun eh.”
The video immediately went viral and even reached Malacañang. Due to the trending issue, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque put a stop on the argument as to whether the lugaw is essential or not.
“Lugaw, or any food item for that matter, is considered an essential good. Delivery of food items must remain unhampered 24/7. Huwag natin harangin sa checkpoints,” Roque said.
He also added that food deliveries are allowed 24/7 even in areas under strict quarantine.
