John “Sweet” Lapus is proud to say that he is keeping his worries at bay by working hard.
As the country continues to face the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, many have lost their jobs and faced financial challenges. Sweet admitted that he too has been affected when many of his ‘rakets’ were gone since the lockdown. But despite it, he isn’t giving up and has continued to move on and persevere.
He shared with Pep, “Heto at nakakabawi na tayo.”
According to Sweet, he is always up for any opportunities that may come his way. He is also proud that he is able to pay off his debts.
“Isa na lang ang pinagkakautangan ko. Mabuti at tunay ko siyang kaibigan at naiintindihan niya ang naging sitwasyon ko. Sana matuloy agad ang next show ko, this time as director naman, para hindi matengga nang matagal,” he said.
The comedian added, “Tumatanggap pa din naman ako ng acting, writing, creative consulting jobs. Kahit ribbon-cutting, laban ako!”
Back in December, Sweet revealed that he was struggling with depression and autophobia, or the fear of being isolated or alone.
“There were nights when I couldn’t sleep. I struggled with being alone and experienced panic attacks, especially during the first two weeks of the ECQ (enhanced community quarantine),” he shared.
Since then, his friends have set up a 24-hour Zoom meet to make sure that at least one of them would be able to check on him throughout the day. Sweet was very grateful for his friends’ efforts as he struggles with his mental health issues.
