The senate recently adopted a resolution commending Mayor Vico after he was recognized by the United States’ Department of State as one of its global “Anti-Corruption Champions”. He personally visited the Senate plenary to receive the recognition.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, author and sponsor of Senate Resolution No. 660, said that he would “not let this opportunity pass not to recognize a rare feat in public service.”

“Pasigueños are fortunate that they have gotten themselves a leader who embodies wise thoughts, prudent actions and selfless intentions to advance the well-being of his constituents,” Lacson added.

Senator Manny Pacquiao also aired his admiration for the local government chief, particularly for Mayor Vico being God-fearing. He said this quality is what is needed for public officials.

Pacquiao remarked, “Si Mayor Vico, maganda iyan kasi may takot siya sa Panginoon. ‘Yan ang kailangan natin, may takot sa Panginoon at ini-implement kung ano ang tama para sa ating mga kababayan.”

The senator lauded the city mayor as he hoped more officials would follow the good works of Mayor Vico in putting the welfare of the Filipinos first.

“I hope maraming pang Vico Sotto na lulutang diyan at ipaglaban ang karapatan ng mga Pilipino, ang kapakanan ng ating bansa,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Mayor Vico thanked the senate for the recognition and said he hopes the US award will help raise awareness for the denormalization of corruption in the government.
