National Task Force against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. urges Filipinos not to wait for the “best vaccine” because what’s important is that it’s available and effective.
Galvez told the public to stop looking for the so-called “best” COVID-19 vaccine because there is no such thing. He made the statement as the government begins its mass inoculation program at the Philippine General Ho
spital (PGH) using Sinovac vaccines.
The official clarified that for us to move forward and have a sense of normalcy, we need to get vaccinated.
He said, “Hindi po tayo pupunta sa new normal, hindi po makaka-recover ang ating economy, hindi natin maibabalik ang ating dating buhay kung hindi tayo magpabakuna.”
Galvez encouraged Filipinos to get over their apprehensions and get vaccinated as it is their “moral obligation” to do so.
“Ito ay moral obligation po ng lahat ng mga tao na dapat tayo magpabakuna at dapat ‘wag nating hintayin ‘yung tinatawag na best vaccine,” he said in a speech.
“There is no such best vaccine dahil ang pinaka-best vaccine ay ‘yung effective at efficient na dumarating nang mas maaga,” Galvez added.
The official admitted that we saw that there is an option with higher efficacy rate but it will arrive much later in the year. “Nakita natin na mataas nga ang efficacy pero darating this coming pang third and fourth quarter,” Galvez further said.
Galvez also revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered him to get vaccinated to boost vaccine confidence among Filipinos.
