John Lloyd Cruz has launched a tricycle booking application in Cabuyao, Laguna.
The actor visited the office of Cabuyao City Mayor Rommel A. Gecolea and presented his project to the local government. On Facebook, the CIO Cabuyao shared photos of the meeting and John Lloyd’s presentation.
The caption read, “Dumalaw ang sikat na actor na si John Lyod Cruz kay Cabuyao City Mayor Aty. Rommel A. Gecolea upang ilatag ang kanyang bagong proyektong Tricycle Booking App na “Trike Now”. Kasamang dumalo sa presentasyon ni G. Cruz sina Cong. Dan Fernandez, G. Mike Aranzanso, at mga opisyal ng TODA ng Lungsod.”
His project named “Trike Now” is an online booking application that aims to help commuters have easy access to tricycles anytime of the day.
John Lloyd met with several local government officials, including Congressman Dan Fernandez, Mayor Mel Gecolea. He also talked to representatives of several organizations from the Tricycle Operator and Driver’s Association (TODA), among those is BayaniCa Excutive Director Mr. Michael “Mike Kalinga ” Aranzanso.
The project has been welcomed by many Cabuyao netizens. The comment section of the post was filled with positive reactions and many thanked John Lloyd for visiting Cabuyao.
A netizen commented, “A mobile application that will help increase the income of tricycle drivers as well as provide a safer and convenient commute around Cabuyao. This is the new innovation for transportation especially sa lahat ng tricycle.”
As early as 2017, several ride-hailing apps that cater specifically to tricycle commuters have been launched. Just like most ride-hailing apps, passengers can book tricycle rides using their smartphones. Users only need to input their pick-up and drop-off points and wait for the tricycle to arrive.
