Heart Evangelista admitted she auditioned for the blockbuster film, “Crazy Rich Asians.”
The actress set the record straight that she did take a bold move to be part of the film. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the part. Heart had an interview with Dra. Aivee Teo via the dermatologist’s YouTube channel.
Heart shared that she auditioned for the role of Araminta Lee, the Billionaire Hotel chain heiress, whose wedding to Colin Khoo was considered the wedding of the century.
She told Dra. Aivee, “I did audition talaga and parang they were already in the last leg of their auditions, and I got a call. And I was like, ‘yun na. I might as well do it na. I auditioned here in the Philippines, and I remember I got a crew, and I did a scene, like a real scene from a telenovela.”
She went on to recall that she got calls from an agent based in Los Angeles. “And I got it. I got the call. I remember waking up to 10 missed calls from an agent in L.A. and then sabi niya, ‘How come you’re not answering your phone? Your presentation paused in the middle of the showing,'” Heart revealed.
Unfortunately, despite being all excited for the film, Heart didn’t receive any more call backs from the production. The silver lining of it all was that Heart ultimately became friends with Kevin Kwan, the writer of the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ book.
“So there’s always a reason for everything. Ayaw ko rin namang mangarap nang todo kung hindi naman ibigay,” Heart went on.
Asked why she didn’t reveal earlier that she auditioned, Heart admitted being hurt. “No, kasi masakit! Ayoko rin naman maging arrogant na, I auditioned,” she stated.
