Larry Lasac, a 54-year-old buko vendor, has earned the praise of many netizens when he was seen on a video trying to put out the fire from a tricycle with buko juice.

According to Larry, he was selling buko juice along the roadside of Manila East Road, when the burning tricycle stopped near him. Without hesitation, Larry threw his entire container of buko juice to extinguish the fire.

He shared with Manila Bulletin, “Nakita kong nahihirapan ang tricycle driver na patayin ang apoy kaya naman naisipan kong ibuhos sa nag-aapoy na tricycle ang paninda kong buko juice.”

The vendor admitted he would have earned P500 for the buko juice but he still didn’t hesitate to throw it all away just to help someone in need. Even more impressive, Larry even threw away another container of mineral water on the tricycle when he noticed that the buko juice wasn’t enough.

Larry downplayed his good deed and said anyone would have done the same.

He said, “Sa tingin ko po, gagawin din naman ‘yun ng ibang tao kung sila man ang makaka-engkwentro ng ganung sitwasyon.”

Before the pandemic, Larry earns P800-1,000 a day selling french fries near a school but due to the lockdown he started vending buko juice.

Because of his good deed, Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares awarded Lasac with a certificate of recognition. The mayor also promised to help him find a job.
