On Facebook, the Manila Public Information Office announced that City Mayor Isko Moreno has launched the COVID-19 Food Security Program (FSP). The program would allow more or less 700,000 families to receive a monthly food subsidy from the local government. About P3 billion have already been allocated for the implementation of the program.

Each package of food subsidy will include three kilos of rice, 16 pieces of canned goods and 8 sachets of coffee.

Noting how the pandemic will have a “long-term impact” on the country’s economy, Mayor Isko said he hopes the food subsidy will help families overcome poverty and hunger.

It may be a bold dream, but iniiwasan natin iyong inevitable at sana nga hindi dumating yung mga susunod na buwan ng kahirapan ng mamamayan,” Mayor Isko stated.

He revealed that the local government agreed to forego some projects to prioritize the welfare of the people.

Mayor Isko also assured that the ongoing housing projects for the poorest of the poor will continue.
