Totskie, an aspin, is named one of the winners of the Pupvote world’s biggest pet contest.
Totskie, who hails from Davao was named the winner in the contest from December 5 to December 26, 2020. He won 400 Euros or approximately P24,000 for having the most likes on his profile. At that time, Totskie was the only Filipino dog participant and also the first and only Aspin to join the contest.
According to his profile on Pupvote’s official website, the aspin was described as “been rehomed three times but now found his forever loving family.”
They even added in jest, “Dream: to be a Belgian, husky and Alaskan malamute dog.”
Totskie was once a stray dog who was adopted by Sheena Garde Lumayaga, the founder of Davao’s Pet Avenue, an animal rescue center. When Totskie won the Pupvote contest, no one could be any more proud than his furmom Sheena. She shared with Sunstar Davao, “Si Totskie parang naging model ng Aspin. People are more proud of their Aspin because of Totskie.”
According to Sheena, Totskie’s prize money will be used to help his other “fur friends” at the rescue center. She thanked everyone who took the time to vote for Totskie and assured that the prize will be used to purchase food and other needs of the rescued animals. Currently, Pet Avenue shelters around 70 dogs and cats. They are so saving up to purchase a rescue van to help them whenever they need to transport animals.
