Toni Gonzaga will soon star in the Philippine remake of the blockbuster Korean film “My Sassy Girl”.

Fans of Toni and the beloved film “My Sassy Girl” have a lot to look forward to as a Philippine adaptation of the film is set to be made. Toni will star as the unnamed “sassy girl” played by Jun Ji-Hyun.
The announcement was made through the social media pages of TinCan Films (@tincanfilmsph). It also shared several photos with Toni acting out some notable scenes from the film.
“In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl. #MySassyGirlPH,” read the announcement.
There are still no details on when the Philippine adaptation of the movie will be released and who will play alongside Toni as her leading man.

The romantic comedy movie that premiered in 2001 captivated a lot of viewers worldwide that it even had an American remake in 2008 under the same title. The Hollywood adaptation stars Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford.
In the film, Ji-hyun is a pretty girl who meets Gyeon-woo, a clueless but kind guy played by Cha Tae-hyun. Their story behind when
Gyeon-woo meets “the sassy girl” (whose name was never revealed in the film) while she was drunk at a train station. Since then, the two embark on a series of adventures that brought laughter and eventually tears to the viewers.
The original film is a critical and box-office success. It grossed $32.3 million at the box-office in East Asia.
