Selena Gomez showed that she can whip up a good Filipino dish in the trailer of a cooking show.
The Hollywood singer put down her microphone and grabbed some apron as she tried to cook the iconic Pinoy dish “adobo.”
HBO Max has just released its official trailer for the second season of the cooking show, “Selena + Chef.” Many Pinoys were quickly intrigued when it showed Selena cooking adobo.
In preparing the Filipino dish, Selena was assisted by Fil-Am celebrity chef Jordan Andino of Flip Sigi, a “Filipino taqueria” in New York. In the trailer, Chef Jordan explained that his Filipino grandmother will get to judge the adobo that Selena cooked.
“How do you think it looks?” Selena asked.
Chef Jordan’s lola casually replied, “it’s okay,” making Selena and her companions laugh. Good thing the celebrity chef assured Selena that she did a good job with the adobo. “That was incredible,” Chef Jordan said.
Selena admitted in the show that she is still honing her cooking skills but despite a few misses, she isn’t giving up.
It was back in 2016 when Gomez held her first and only concert in Manila. At that time, she praised her Filipino audience for making her feel at home even though she was miles away from her family.
During the concert, Selena told her fans, “I am far away from home, but I feel like I am home with you.” She even squeezed in a few tagalog words when she said, “Please don’t be mad at me if I get this wrong. Mahal Kita… I guarantee you, we will be back.”
