The local government of Pasig City has built a marker to honor the sacrifices of the frontliners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto joined other officials in unveiling a marker celebrating the hardwork of COVID-19 pandemic frontliners. According to organizers, this is the first marker installed in the Philippines to honor Filipino frontliners.
Mayor Vico shared photos of the marker as he also commended the brave frontliners who worked hard against the spread of COVID-19. He described 2020 as a year of crisis but also a year of heroism.
He wrote, “2020…
The mayor described them as Modern Day Heroes or “Mga Bagong Bayani.”
He also lauded the efforts of the youth of Pasig under Kabataang Tambuli ng Pasig who made the initiative.
In the marker was an “Ode to the Frontliners” written by Pablo Tariman. An excerpt of the poem goes, “Many owe you their extended liv
es. You were also the last warm moments, of many before their flight unto the stars.”
