- An eight-year-old kid from Davao City unknowingly used his parents’ card to purchase P100k worth of games
- The little geek explained that he thought downloading games was free
- The mother said it was an honest mistake that taught both the kid and them as parents lessons
A mother from Davao City got the shock of her life when she discovered that her eight-year-old son incurred P100k worth of mobile game purchases using their debit card.
“One of the twins unknowingly purchased mobile games and spent at least P40k in just two days. Good that I was able to track bank statements for our finance team today or else we could have spent more without any clue,” Julmar Grace Locsin shared in a Facebook post.
They later found out that their son had prior purchases which brought the total to P100k.
She said that her husband’s account is connected to Google Play because they use it to purchase movies. His old mobile phone was handed over to their son Tice last Christmas.
When asked to explain, Tice said old games are already “too easy” for him so he started downloading new ones. “He thought all downloads were free. He cried a lot after we talked about it and forgave him. He was very sorry,” Julmar narrated.
“We explained that they are worth MORE THAN all the money in the world but following rules is also a good life skill to abide.”
Julmar already filed for refund and has already set parental controls for purchases.
“Did finding out that the purchase is P100k change our feelings for our kids? NOPE. Again, we know our kids and our parenting more than anyone else. This is a complete mistake. He thought all downloads are free. We trust them and they are responding to discipline with the fear of God in their hearts,” she added.
