The country’s first and only floating cinema has opened in Taguig City.
Avid moviegoers are in for a surprise as they can now enjoy movies while aboard a venetian gondola. Megaworld Cinemas has opened the Philippines’ first ever floating cinema along Venice Grand Canal in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.
Not only do moviegoers get treated to a movie, they can also experience some quality fancy time along with the lights and sounds aboard their own gondola.
On Facebook, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls shared photos of their floating cinema to invite the public to experience something different while watching a movie.
They wrote, “LOOK: #MegaworldCinemas gearing up to take the movie viewing experience to the next level with the opening of the country’s first and only float-in cinema in #VeniceGrandCanal, McKinley Hill.”
“The McKinley Hill Float-In Cinema opened on December 5, 2020 and aims to bring back the thrill and joy of watching movies on the big screen in a safe and picturesque setting aboard the mall’s iconic Venetian gondolas,” they added.
Megaworld Cinema spokesperson Tinay Magtira said putting up the floating cinema is their way of answering the public’s clamor to watch movies in a safe and extravagant way.
She said that they wanted to do something innovative and at the same still following the safety protocols. “Instead of the usual drive-in cinema, this is more open, you’re not enclosed in a car, so it’s more open. This is an innovation that we wanted to bring into the customers for different kinds of experience,” she shared with Philstar.
