Senior high social sciences teacher Marco Paolo Lovendino decided to teach beyond the books and teach his class the actual practice of democracy. On Facebook, Teacher Marco shared a photo of his high school class all ready to vote for the upcoming 2022.

Instead of a long test on the principles of democracy, teacher Marco urged his Grade 12 students to register as voters for the upcoming elections. He was proud to show that all 26 students in his class were able to register.

The proud teacher shared, “…AND THEY ARE ALL REGISTERED! We were discussing the principles of democracy in my HUMSS class.”

“But instead of giving them a long test, I just asked them to register as voters for the 2022 elections. Pwede kong ipamemorize sa kanila lahat ng facts about democracy. Pero mas magiging meaningful yung learning kung magagamit nila sa reality. And that’s the true essence of democracy,” he added.

His initiative was quickly lauded by many netizens online. Many praised the teacher for going the extra mile to get his students involved in social issues and responsibilities.
