- Ellen DeGeneres surprised Flor Roz, a Filipina nurse in California
- To honor Flor’s efforts and dedication as a frontliner, Ellen surprised her with a brand new car
- Flor said she became a nurse because she has always wanted to help other people
Award-winning TV host Ellen DeGeneres just gave a lucky Filipina nurse more reasons to celebrate this Christmas as she gifts her with a brand new car.
Christmas came early for Flor Roz, a Filipina nurse working in Los Angeles, California. The Ellen DeGeneres’ Show has been paying tribute to frontliners who worked hard against the spread of COVID-19 in their country. To show appreciation to these frontliners, Ellen has been highlighting their stories and surprising them with gifts.
Flor had the surprise of her life when she was chosen by the show to be honored for her contributions and efforts. Thinking she was there for a mere interview, Flor started sharing her experiences.
“I became a nurse because since I was a kid, I love helping people. The pandemic has changed everything. People who are sick, since they cannot be visited by their family, I will be the one who’s gonna be by their side and let them know that there is this person who loves them,” she said.
Right in the middle of the interview, Ellen appears in Flor’s driveway to surprise her with a brand new car.
Ellen told Flor, “It’s just amazing what you’ve been doing. I know that you and your husband are sharing one car. So I’ve partnered with Hyundai and they want to thank you for your service. They want to give you this Hyundai Palisade. This is your car. No more Ubers for you.”
