San Jose del Monte Bulacan Mayor Arthur Robes and his wife Bulacan Representative Rida Robes have earned the ire of many netizens as photos of the mural at the city’s convention center were shown online.
Netizens commented at how the mural featured the government officials in “larger-than-life likenesses” while the Baby Jesus, the Nativity scene and religious images were just depicted in the background.
The photo was shortly deleted by the Public Information Office (PIO) on Facebook after it received criticisms. The PIO has earlier replied to one the critics saying that the mural featured all the people who helped in the construction of the convention center.
Nandyan po si Senator Nancy Binay and DPWH Secretary Mark Villar,” the city’s PIO said.
The SJDM PIO eventually issued an official statement that the mural at the convention center was an artists’ depiction of the nativity scene which landed the city in the Guinness Book of World Records last year.
“The event represented a major milestone for San Jose Del Monte City because it gave international recognition to the hard work and commitment to the faith of San Joseños with the leadership of Rep. Rida and Mayor Arthur,” the statement was quoted by GMA.
