President Rodrigo Duterte gave a message of hope as the country continues to face challenges.
While Filipinos will surely have a “new normal” Christmas this year, the President encouraged Filipinos to look to a brighter future and that we can all lift ourselves up soon. Duterte appeared on the People’s Television Network’s (PTV) holiday station ID to give his message of hope and look forward to better days.
He can be seen on the video saying, “Mga kababayan, maging laging handa. Babangon tayo para sa bayan,” he said.
Entitled “Tuloy ang Pasko, Basta’t Magkakasama Tayo,” PTV’s station ID focused on bringing encouragement to Filipinos as the country continues to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Aside from the President, PTV’s news and public affairs personalities also appeared on the video.
PTV General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Kat de Castro described their station ID as heartfelt. “It may not be as grand or as well-polished as the others but I would like to say that our Station IDs is full of heart, full of compassion. Tuloy ang Pasko sa Pilipinas dahil sa pagkaka-isa natin at dahil na rin sa mga sakripisyo ng magigiting nating frontliners,” she said.
Industry veteran Myrna dela Torre, who was the Creative Consultant for the station ID said they focused on their message instead of celebrities.
“We realized that we may not have the star power that the other networks will certainly bring to the table, but we were also quick to recognize our main advantage: and that is the compelling real-life stories that we cover each day,” she said.
