A 50-year-old Person With Disability (PWD) was lauded online for his generosity and selflessness as he donated to relief efforts for the benefit of Ty
phoon Ulysses victims.
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro personally thanked Romeo Menil for his donation to the city’s relief efforts. Romeo, who resides in Barangay Mambugan, went to the streets to collect money so he could donate.
The Marikina Public Information Office (PIO), shared the inspiring story of Romeo.
They wrote, “Isang natatanging tulong ang natanggap ng Lungsod ng Marikina buhat sa isang residente ng Antipolo.”
“Nangolekta at nanghingi ng pera sa kalsada ang 50 anyos na PWD na si Romeo Menil, taga-Barangay Mambugan, upang makatulong sa mga nasalanta ng ba
gyo sa lungsod,” the page added.
Romeo was able to raise over P12,000 and he asked the assistance of their barangay kagawad so he could personally hand it over to the local government.
“Nakalikom ng halagang P12,390 si Menil kaya nagpasama siya sa kagawad ng kanilang barangay upang maiabot ang pera sa mga taga-Marikina. Bagama’t may kapansanan, hindi naging hadlang kay Menil ang pagtulong,” the PIO continued.
Mayor Marcy praised Romeo as he received his donation. He said Romeo’s good deed is extraordinary and in behalf of the Marikeño, extended his gratitude.
“MABUHAY KA GINOONG ROMEO MENIL! Basta’t sama-sama at tulong-tulong, sa lalong madaling panahon, makakabangon ang Marikina,” Mayor Marcy said.
