- Mariel and Robin Padilla built apartment units for their househelpers and their families
- According to Mariel, it was a way to allow their househelpers to be with their families amid the pandemic
- Their staff were indeed very grateful for the wonderful gift the couple gave them
Mariel and Robin Padilla showed how much they appreciate their househelps by building an apartment just for them.
On Mariel’s YouTube channel, she shared a vlog of their gift for their “kasambahays.” She said it is what everyone wishes and their househelpers received it amid the pandemic.
Mariel wrote, “Tonight on my YouTube Channel is something more personal. Since the lockdown no one has left the house, including our staff. Miss na nila pamilya nila. Ito kwento nila. Kamusta sila ngayong pandemic. Lahat ng sakripisyo may matamis na kapalit basta magsumikap. Isang pangarap ng bawat tao nakamit nila ngayong panahon ng covid.”
It was Robin’s idea to build an apartment for their househelpers in the compound of Museo Padilla. Mariel disclosed that when the pandemic began, they were very strict not to let anyone in or out of their house. It was difficult for their staff because it meant they had to be away from their families. But with the apartment, the househelps now get to live with their loved ones. The househelpers couldn’t help but be emotional as they thanked Robin and Mariel.
Jo, a midwife who has been with the Padilla household for more than three years, was indeed grateful. She said, “Nagpapasalamat po ako dahil napapunta ako sa pamilya n’yo.”
The other “yayas” of Mariel’s children were also very thankful for the kind treatment they received.
One said, “Kakaiba po ang naranasan namin dito, hindi namin mararanasan sa iba. Iba po yung ipinapakita ninyo sa amin. Kakaiba po ang pakiramdam. Parang at home na at home po ako dito sa bahay ninyo.”
