Gretchen Ho shared the touching story of her latest recipient of her ‘Donate a Bike, Save a Job’ campaign.
On Instagram, Gretchen shared the story of “Tatay Bong,” a streetsweeper living with his three kids in a small house without water and electricity in Cubao, Quezon City. Based on the photos, she personally made a visit to Tatay Bong and his children.
Despite living in poverty, Tatay Bong’s children continue to study amid the distance learning. At night, they would huddle near the street light post to study.
Madilim kasi. OK naman siya. Biniro ko na lang. Sabi ko, ‘tay, sa bawat sakit may ginhawa,” she added.
Gretchen gave Tatay Bong a folding bike which he plans to use as his new bicycle to sell fishballs.
“Yung folding bike na bigay namin, kakabitan daw nila ng cart para maging fishball vendor na lang si Tatay, at mabantayan niya ang mga anak!” she said.
Aside from the bike, Tatay Bong and his children also received groceries, solar lights, an electric fan, and a gas stove, which were donated by netizens.
