Three islands in the Philippines have been named among the Top Islands in Asia in the Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT) 33rd Readers’ Choice Awards.
Known for their pristine white sand beaches, Cebu, Palawan and Siargao have been ranked as part of the best islands in Asia.
For this year’s Condé Nast Traveler’s (CNT) 33rd Readers’ Choice Awards, over 600,000 travelers have been invited to name and rank their top 35 best islands in the world outside the United States.
For this year’s Top Islands in Asia, Cebu & Visayas Islands bagged the number one spot. The CNT Awards highlighted its beaches and diving spots that have attracted tourists all over the world. They wrote, “Located in the center of the Philippines, Cebu draws nearly 2 million travelers annually for its pristine beaches and diving off the island’s northern coast. Spanish and Roman Cathoic influences permeate Cebu City; Basilica Minore del Santo Niño houses a small statue of Christ that was presented by Ferdinand Magellan.”
At number four, Palawan was described a “regular” on their world’s best islands list. The tourist spots highlighted is the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, El Nido and its blue lagoon and many others.
At number five, Siargao makes it mark as it was described as “unspoiled, remote and still relatively under the radar.”
“You’ll likely fall for the island’s pristine white beaches, coconut woodlands, and emerald mangrove forest as soon as you land, as well as the clearest water you’ve ever seen,” the CNT described.
