DOH awards Pasig City for its best practices on COVID-19 treatment

The local government of Pasig City has received an award from the Department of Health (DOH) for its COVID-19 practices.

The DOH recognized Pasig City’s efforts against the spread of COVID-19. It was chosen as the local government unit (LGU) to share best practices on COVID-19 treatment. The health agency noted Pasig City’s contribution in improving the capacity of critical care facilities and equipment dedicated for patients affected by COVID-19.

“The Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development recognizes Pasig City for its relentless implementation of COVID-19 response and ensuring the provision of quality health services in the community,” the plaque read.

On Facebook, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto expressed his appreciation for the award. He also thanked his team for the effort and hardwork they have given.

“Our Treatment Strategy, including the establishment of a Covid-19 Referral Center, has certainly strengthened our fight against this virus,” Mayor Vico said.

“This award inspires us to do even better. Our health care professionals are always on the look out for ways to improve what we do. As a mayor, I’m very blessed to have this team,” he added.

Pasig City earlier converted the Pasig City Children’s Hospital into a COVID-19 Referral Facility. Due to this, it increased Pasig’s dedicated COVID-19 bed capacity by 211%.

Aside from Pasig City, DOH also recognized several other local governments units for their COVID-19 response. Among those are
Marikina City for testing; Manila for contact tracing; Valenzuela City for isolation; and Pasay City for CODE implementation.
