Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque clarified during a press briefing that the traditional celebration of Undas or the All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day are temporarily suspended for the year 2020.
He said that all cemeteries, both public and private as well as the columbarium will be closed starting October 29 up to November 4, 2020.
He added that people can visit their loved ones before the weeklong closure of the cemeteries, “Pwede naman po tayo dumalaw bago isara at matapos buksan muli ang mga sementeryo,” but he still reminded the public to observe the proper safety protocols to prevent being infected by the COVID-19 virus.
Under the IATF Resolution number 72 concerning the observance of Undas season, it was mentioned that “the number of visitors shall be limited to a maximum of thirtyu percent (30%) of the venue capacity, with the wearing of facemasks and face shields, and the observance of social distancing.”
It was also stated that, “All private and public cemeteries, and memorial parks, including columbariums and the like throughout the country shall be closed to visitors from October 29 to November 4, 2020. Provided that, the Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quaratine shall continue to govern bu
rial and crem ation activities during the said period.”
