Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed his appreciation to the Filipino fan group of Jeon Jungkook, a member of K-pop sensation BTS, for its donation for Manila Zoo’s beloved elephant, Mali.
On Twitter, Mayor Isko thanked the Golden Alliance PH fans club that donated food and other supplies for Mali. The popular elephant has been living in the city zoo for more than 40 years and is loved by many residents.
ARMYs!
On Facebook, the Manila Public Information Office also posted photos showing volunteers gathering at Mali’s enclosure to feed and bath the elephant.
The page posted the caption, “TINGNAN: Lubos na pinasasalamatan ng Public Recreation Bureau – Manila (PRB) ang Golden Alliance PH o ang Filipino fanbase ng BTS member na si Jeon Jung Kook dahil sa paghahandog nito ng mga pagkain at kagamitan para sa 47 taong gulang na elepante sa Manila Zoo na si Mali.”
Wildlife advocates have long been pushing for Mali to be transferred to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand where she will be in the company of other elephants.
