Liza Soberano personally filed charges against a netizen who made a malicious comment against her.
The actress was spotted with her manager Ogie Diaz and legal counsel Atty. Jun Lim of Lim-Yutatco-Sze law firm as she took her oath before Deputy City Prosecutor Irene Ressureccion.
According to Liza’s legal counsel, the malicious comment online made by a netizen about her is a clear violation of Section 4(c)(4) of Republic Act. No. 10175, otherwise known as “Cy
bercrim e Prevention Act of 2012,” in relation to Article 355 of the Revised Penal Code.
Liza explained that the comment made by the netizen was a reaction to a post.
“It was on Facebook under a thread of comments. It wasn’t the actual post of the person but she left a comment under someone else’s post a few days ago,” she said.
Liza said the comment disturbed her and should not be taken lightly. She said as a woman, she could never imagine making such rash and malicious kinds of jokes.
The actress said she filed the case because she wanted also for people to be more responsible with their actions and language online. She said to show ha
te and disrespect to others even online shouldn’t be acceptable.
“I think it is about time that people learn the consequences of speaking like that on social media,” she said.
“I know that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, that is true, but at some point you have to be respectful to others online,” she added.
