The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has shared an instructional video to make an affordable and easy-to-make face shield.
As soon as it was announced that wearing face shields will soon be required in more public areas and establishments, there has been a spike in the prices of face shields. Because of this, the DOTr is urging the public to make their own face shield instead.
In a short instructional video by Pumapapel Crafts on Facebook, they showed how to make a face shield using clear plastic or acetate, surgical mask, and cutter.
The DOTr shared the instructional video to make a DIY face shield in 10 seconds.
KUNG MAY DISKARTE, LAHAT POSIBLE,” the agency reminded.
To make your own face shield, simply fold the clear plastic or acetate in 2 and cut a slanted line near the edge. Unfold the plastic and insert the surgical mask garters in the holes.
The video clarified that the DIY face shield should only be used when there is no medical personal protective equipment or other gear available. The instructional video has already been viewed over 2.9 million times.
