“Para sa mga anak”: Eric Fructuoso intrigues netizens over ‘tricycle driver’ post

Netizens couldn’t help but be intrigued when former Gwapings member Eric Fructuoso posted about working as a tricycle driver in Naic, Cavite.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor posted an intriguing photo on Instagram showing him working as a tricycle driver to earn money for his children. He wrote, “Times like these hindi pwedeng kaartehan ang paiiralin! Basta ligal na pagkakakitaan para sa mga anak, tirahin lang nang tirahin!”

It is unclear if it’s true that Eric is indeed temporarily working as a driver or if the photo was taken recently or is a throwback.

Many netizens shared comments on how impressed they are over Eric’s determination and willingness to work as TV production gets halted due to COVID-19. A netizen wrote, “Tama naman siya eh, hindi pwede arte arte now. Ang uso now ay diskarte sa buhay.”

Another also said, “Walang masama,sa panahon ngayon dapat alisin ang kaartehan para mabuhay sa malinis na paraan.”

There were also many netizens who are skeptical if the actor is indeed driving a tricycle to earn. Many noticed that Eric was sporting an expensive pair of sneakers. A netizen commented, “Naniwala naman kayo agad, naka Jordan 11 siya oh. Haha”

Another also wrote, “Baka nagpa-picture lang siya diyan. Saan po siya nagbi-biyahe na pwede walang mask.”

Following his viral “tricycle driver” post, Eric posted photos of him driving his motorcycle around Batangas and Tagaytay as he enjoyed eating lomi and drinking coffee. He also shared some funny lines on social media; referring to the trike photo.

He later on clarified via Facebook that he is not literally working as a tricycle driver; his post was simply misunderstood. However, it was his message that  he would gladly take up the job or any available opportunity to earn for family if such a time comes.  He said, “Hindi ko din naman tatanggihan ang pagkakataon.”

Eric has been married for 16 years to his non-showbiz wife Gian and they have four children. He also has one more child from his previous relationship.
