Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica said they need only six months to rid PhilHealth of corruption.
Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica assured that they are on their way to put a stop to the corrup
t practices of PhilHealth. He said they can clean up the agency within six months with the right people and systems in place.
“Kaya po ‘yan. ‘Di po ako naniniwala na ‘di matatapos ito ng 6 months. You put the right system, put the right people, do the right thing, 6 months ‘yan ma-improve ‘yan,” Belgica said on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.
Belgica said that some private institutions have offered PhilHealth free information technology that will help stop fraud and scams, and eradicate corrupt practices of its personnel. He said these systems will prevent fake documents and claims.
“Gamitin muna itong nag-o-offer ng libre. In six months, linis po ‘yang IT system. Meron nang validation mechanism, hindi na makakapasok ang mga upcasing, ‘yung fake documents, fake claims. In six months maaayos nila ‘yan nang walang gastos,” the commissioner added.
Belgica stood firm that PhilHealth can be “cleansed” even before President Rodrigo Duterte ends his term, or even within this year. “It’s really possible. Kasi andyan na po, the offer is already there,” he said.
Belgica recently appeared before the Senate Committee of the Whole hybrid hearing on the alleged irregularities in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth). He assured that the PACC already has a long list of individuals currently under investigation in connection with the PhilHealth controversies.
