Jake Cuenca responded to a netizen who said celebrities don’t really feel the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
As the country continues to face the health crisis, many already feel the financial impact and burden brought about by COVID-19. However, one netizen suggested that celebrities like Jake aren’t really affected with the pandemic because they have savings. Jake decided to not keep mum about the assumption and replied.
The interaction began when Jake commented about Senator Cynthia Villar’s statement on medical workers.
Jake tweeted, “Ma’am wag natin baliwalain ang trabahong ginagawa ng mga healthcare workers natin, sila nga ang nagbubuwis buhay para sa atin lahat ngayon pandemia. Dapat silang pasalamatan.”
A netizen downplayed Jake’s support and said he is lucky to go through this pandemic with enough savings.
“Agree with senator Villar. Di niyo ramdam ang hirap ng mga Pinoy dahil may mga ipon kayong mga artista,” the netizen said.
Jake agreed that they have savings but they use it to help their families and those who are in need in these difficult times.
He replied, “Yes, savings that we also use to help our frontliners, Kapamilyas, and other Filipinos who are in need. Rather than trolling maybe you should put your energy into helping other people instead.”
When a netizen suggested that everyone should be responsible enough to save, Jake agreed and replied, “Okay yes! let’s all save and help others when we can. That’s what’s most important lalo na ngayon.”
