Malacañang gave its assurance to the public that the government is doing everything they can to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the government has been busy to find efficient ways to contain the virus. He further said they are trying their best to find a solution to the ongoing health crisis.
“We may not be as successful, but I can assure you, everyone is working darn hard to find a solution to the problem,” Roque expressed in a televised briefing.
Roque added that while they have lapses, it is still not right to accuse the government of sleeping on their job.
“Kung magkulang man, well, pagpasensyahan po pero hindi n’yo po maaakusa ang gobyernong ito na natutulog sa pansitan,” he said.
The Palace’s statement came after Senator Risa Hontiveros suggested a “health-heavy plan” to address the public health crisis. She said it’s high time the government should move and that the record number of new cases should serve as a “wake-up call.”
Roque said it is already expected to have an increased number of cases due to their continued testing.
“Hindi po imposible na ganito karami ang numero natin dahil lamang sa increased testing. Iyan naman po ay kinikilala natin,” Roque said.
Roque also agreed with Vice President Leni Robredo’s earlier claim that community transmission could be one of the causes of the rising COVID-19 cases.
“Talaga pong merong community transmission kaya nga po pinaigting natin ang testing para ma-isolate natin at matigil po ‘yung pagkalat ng sakit,” Roque said.
