Ben&Ben announced that the earnings of their latest single “Nakikinig Ka ba sa Akin” has been donated for the benefit of displaced ABS-CBN workers.
The folk-pop band showed their support to ABS-CBN and its workers by giving the earnings of their latest song to help workers who have lost their jobs after the network shutdown.
On Twitter, Ben&Ben made the announcement and wrote, “Hello. Sharing with you that we’ve given earnings from our song “Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin” to programs that will support retrenched employees of ABS-CBN, through Lingkod Kapamilya.”
The band admitted that the song was really dedicated for the affected workers of the ABS-CBN.
“The band’s goal in releasing the song has always been to be of service to retrenched employees of ABS-CBN,” Ben&Ben added.
According to the band, the song “Nakikinig Ka ba sa Akin” is a tribute to all the “Kapamilyas.” They wrote as caption of the song, “Isang alay sa ating mga kapamilya para sa bigat ng mga pangyayari ngayon.”
Its official music video already earned over 1.1 million views on YouTube. The music video featured Agot Isidro, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Bart Guingona and Kelvin Miranda.
Several ABS-CBN personalities and supporters expressed their admiration over Ben&Ben’s initiative. A netizen wrote, “Oh my gosh, bat ako naiyak? Shucks. Thank you kahit di ako related sa kahit na sino sa ABS-CBN aside sa pagiging avid viewer ko.”
A writer of ABS-CBN Cherry Pineda also commented, “Thank you. And apparently, I haven’t cried enough today because this got me going again.”
