- The outspoken Kapamilya actress earlier said she supported capital punishment for corrupt officials
- Her statement came after alleged issues of corruption within the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) surfaced
Angel Locsin expressed her support for calls to put corrupt officials behind bars.
The actress continues to share her opinion and thoughts on social issues. This time, Angel decided to react on alleged widespread anomalies within the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
On her Instagram stories, Angel shared a report where Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri exposed more “money-making schemes” in the PhilHealth.
Angel said that while she is against the capital punishment, she said that people who “steal from the poor and sic
kly” deserve it. She wrote, “I’m against d*ath penalty but for the people who s teal from the poor and sic k, especially during a pandemic, you deserve the d*ath penalty.”
Later on, Angel said she changed her mind on the issue and would rather see corrupt officials behind bars with no parole.
“Changed my mind. Mahaba-habang pagkakakulon
g sa siksikan na preso, with no chance of parole [para] sa mga walang pu song corrupt officials,” she said.
Zubiri earlier revealed one of the alleged “money-making” schemes under the PhilHealth. He claimed that an 18-bed infirmary in the Davao region got P10 million a year in benefit claims, as well as clinics sharing “rebates” with PhilHealth officials.
Aside from Angel, another Kapamilya actress also spoke up on the PhilHealth issues. Nikki Valdez called out the executives of PhilHealth for expressing their intention that they will miss the senate hearing on the alleged corruption in the agency.
“Yung mga boss po namin sa ABSCBN present sa lahat ng hearings. Mga walang tulog at pahinga maipagtanggol lang ang kumpanya namin. Sa Philhealth di pa nagsisimula ang hearing, may sakit na yung mga tatanungin?” Nikki said.
