A 13-year-old Filipina singer was named the grand champion in “The Voice Kids 2020.”
Justine Afante couldn’t believe it when her named was called and she was hailed as the grand winner of the popular singing competition.
During the grand announcement, Justine fell on her knees and covered her face in disbelief. When the TV host Emma Willis asked if she was okay, she panted, “No, I can’t breathe!”
When she was able to compose herself, the teen singer said she was “in so much shock.” She admitted she didn’t really expect to win knowing how good the other competitors were.
She said, “They were all so good and I didn’t think I was going to be the one.”
Justine defeated other finalists George Elliot, Dara Mcnicholl and including a fellow Filipina, the 7-year-old Victoria Alsina.
Justine’s coach Pixie Lott couldn’t be any more proud of her. She said, “I’m so, so, so, proud of you. You worked so, so, so, hard. The proof is in the pudding.” Justine joined Pixie on stage to perform Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing.”
The Filipina singer sang Beyonce’s popular song “Listen” for her final performance.
As the grand winner, Justine will be given a £30,000 grant towards her musical education. All of the finalists will also be rewarded with a dream holiday to Orlando, Florida for their efforts.
On Facebook, “The Voice Kids UK 2020” announced the achievement of Justine. They wrote, “Justine is the WINNER of The Voice Kids UK 2020. This mega-talented girl has sung her way to victory for Team Pixie.”
