A school in Oriental Mindoro is being lauded online for its initiative to help their learners’ have the supplies they need this upcoming school year.
Teachers from Campaasan Elementary School in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro decided to barter their plants in exchange for school supplies and materials. As they shift to blended learning, the teachers still need to print modules and learning materials to be distributed to their students. They said not all of their students can afford to have gadgets.
A variety of ornamental and garden plants are up for grabs for donors in exchange for bond papers, printers, alcohol, face masks and other supplies.
According to Aurea Gunta, Master Teacher 2, this initiative is to help raise funds to be used for learning modules to be given to students.
“Ito po ang aming mga halaman para sa aming ‘Halaman Ko, Barter Mo’ project upang makaipon pa kami ng coupon bonds at ink para sa printing ng modules at activity sheets ng mga learners ng Campaasan Elementary School,” she explained.
Lucy Ferranco, the school principal, said they have worked together with their students and parents to organize the barter project.
“Ito po ay upang manumbalik ang ating tradisyonal na ginagawang barteran. At the same time, mapunan po ang aming mga pangangailangan. Pangangailangan po ng aming mga kaguruan, pangangailangan po ng aming mga mag-aaral sa darating na pasukan,” she said.
