Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said she has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement released by the Quezon City government on Facebook, Mayor Belmonte confirmed she is COVID-19 positive. She said that while it is unfortunate she got the infection, she still feels lucky it was found out early.
Mayor Belmonte said she is feeling well and asymptomatic and will strictly follow the quarantine protocols of the Department of Health. The Quezon Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QC-ESU) have also started their contact tracing procedures. Common areas of City Hall have been temporarily shut for disinfection.
The city leader said it is possible she contracted the disease by visiting health centers and ho
spitals. Mayor Belmonte said she doesn’t regret doing any of it.
Mayor Belmonte added that she has practiced the necessary precaution but still got infected. She said may her situation be a reminder for the public to take care of our own health.
akit na dapat pag-ingatan pa nang lubusan,” she said.
Despite being COVID-19 positive, Mayor Belmonte assured that the local government of Quezon City will continue serving its constituents.
“Bagama’t limitado ang aking pagkilos, mananatili po akong nakatutok sa kalagayan at pangangailangan ng buong Quezon City,” she said.
