Kapuso star Glaiza de Castro expressed her support for ABS-CBN amid its franchise renewal debates under the House of Representatives.
On Twitter, Glaiza said she believes the debates amid the ABS-CBN franchise renewal should not be considered a network issue but a national issue. The actress said the Filipino public should feel affected and send prayers and hugs.
“Hindi na ito labanan ng istasyon, laban to ng mga Pilipino. Lahat tayo apektado. Dasal, kapit, akap,” she wrote.
Glaiza is part of the newly created group AKTOR – League of Filipino Actors, which recently released a statement urging the members of the House committees on legislative franchises, and good government and public accountability to push for the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
Aside from Glaiza, several other celebrities and personalities from GMA have also spoken up in favor of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. Among them are Atom Araullo, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Dingdong Dantes and several others.
Dingdong shared how ABS-CBN’s shows and talents have influenced Filipinos.
“Magkaiba man ng bakod, we are one in the media industry. We have one love for the many talents and crafts under this Network, the products and output of which, directly or indirectly, benefit the liv
es of millions of Filipinos,” he said.
Jasmine Curtis, Dingdong’s co-actor in GMA’s remake of The Descendants of the Sun, also echoed the same sentiments.
Atom also pushed for press freedom as he called for his former network’s renewal.
He tweeted, “In competition, we bring out the best in each other which hopefully benefits the audience we aim to serve. In defending press freedom as one, we are the proverbial rising tide that lifts all boats. Our hearts go out to our colleagues in these challenging times. L
