The local government of Pasig City has shared its proposed Socialized Housing Buildings.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was met with enthusiasm on social media after he shared photos of the 3D model of their city’s proposed Socialized Housing Buildings for its impoverished residents.
According to Mayor Vico, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, his administration is still working hard to pursue the programs they have started. Among those programs is to provide socialized shelters for those living in areas considered to be “danger zones” such those in floodways.
He admitted that for now, giving houses for all of those in need seems impossible, but he assures of a fair and just system.
“Naantala man nang dahil sa pandemya, umuusad pa rin ang mga programa natin na non-covid. Hindi po ako kailanman nangako na lahat ay mabibigyan ng pabahay – hindi posible ‘yun sa ngayon,” Mayor Vico said.
He recalled his promise that no demolition will occur unless there is a good relocation site. Mayor Vico also assured that he will be fair in choosing the right beneficiaries.
“Ang pinangako ko, walang relokasyon at walang demolisyon, HANGGA’T hindi maayos ang paglilipatan at magiging makatarungan ang sistema… Walang palakasan sa pagpili ng benepisaryo,” he said.
Mayor Vico said he hopes to give the beneficiaries a safe and decent place to liv
e in and an opportunity for them to improve their livelihoods.
“Hangad nating mabigyan sila ng pabahay na ligtas, marangal, at kung saan may malaking potensyal sila para itaas ang antas ng kanilang pamumuhay,” he said.
