The honesty of a “tahong” vendor went viral as he earned the praise of many people after he returned a manager’s check he found.
Marlon Tanael returned a manager’s check worth P15 million to the Imus City Treasurer’s Office. He said he found the check in a bag that fell along the highway across his stall. He said he opened the bag only because he was a bit scared that it might contain something dangerous. Much to his surprise, inside was a brown envelope with the manager’s check.
Tanael said he didn’t hesitate to return it to the City Treasurer’s Office of Imus City.
“Bukas po sa kalooban ko ang maibalik po ito,” he said in an interview with FunDemic page on Facebook. The P15 million manager’s check was later returned to Gramwil Mark Pango of Property Company of Friends, Inc.
The Imus City Treasurer’s Office praised Tanael for his honesty and shared his story online.
They wrote on Facebook, “The City Treasurer’s Office of Imus would like to express our deepest gratitude to Sir Marlon Tanael for finding and returning a Manager’s check worth 15 million. The check was later handed over to Sir Gramwil Mark Pango, a representative of Property Company of Friends, Inc. Again, Thank you sir! God bless and MABUHAY PO KAYO!”
Tanael is scheduled to make a courtesy call to Imus Congressman Alex “AA” Advincula and his son, Imus Councilor AJ Advincula, at the Imus Congressional District Office.
While many netizens said Tanael would have difficulty encashing the manager’s check, they said his honesty should still be commended.
