DJ Chacha, real name Czarina Balba, couldn’t help but be emotional as she bid goodbye to her home radio station, MOR 101.9.
Following the rejection of ABS-CBN’s franchise in the committee hearing, the network decided to close MOR 101.9 in Metro Manila.
DJ Chacha who has been with the radio station for more than a decade was emotional with the announcement. In an interview on “Failon Ngayon” via DZMM, DJ Chacha said MOR 101.9 has been her home for almost half of her life.
“Sa buong proseso nang pakikipaglaban natin sa prangkisa ng ABS-CBN, kagabi ako unang umiy
ak. Nandito pa ako, may DZMM pa. Pero sa hindi nakakaalam, hindi ito usaping pera lang. Tahanan po ang MOR for 12 years. Sorry,” DJ Chacha continued.
The radio host said working in MOR 101.9 has been her “first love” and she didn’t expect to part ways from it unexpectedly.
“Pagkatapos ko maka-graduate ng college, this is my first job. First love nga ang tawag ko, forever love. I always tell my friends and family na hindi ko nakikita ang sarili ko na hindi nagra-radyo kasi mahal ko talaga ang radyo. Mahal ko ang MOR. Kasi 12 taon, 32 years old ako ngayon, halos kalahati ng buhay ko kasama ko ang 101.1 family ko,” she said.
DJ Chacha continued that it’s hard to lose a job but even more hurtful to say goodbye to something that you worked so hard for. She said she will miss her colleagues and the entire MOR team.
On Twitter, she also wrote, “You will be my forever love. No goodbyes. We will be back… soon.”
