- She topped all nominees in the category through fan votes worldwide
- She even defeated Vietnamese diva My Tam in the category
While under quarantine Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo continues to shine as she won a prestigious international award in Nigeria.
The Akwa-Ibom State Advancement Awards (ASAA) announced on May 24 that Geronimo bagged the Distinguished Entertainment Personality of the Year, topping other nominees in fan votes from around the world.
“Congratulations Distinguished Sarah Geronimo for emerging the winner of the Distinguished Entertainment Personality of the Year category at the Prestigious Akwa-Ibom State Advancement Awards,” the award-giving body announced on its Facebook page.
“This is as a result of accumulated votes by fans worldwide which necessitated you having the highest vote from the nomination and voting process. Congratulations once again,” ASAA added.
It was disclosed that the Filipino popstar, who is best known for her hits like ‘Tala” and “Kilometro,” defeated Vietnamese diva My Tam in the category.
Geronimo’s win was also confirmed by Viva Artists Agency, Inc. on the same day saying, “A big congratulations to our Queen Sarah Geronimo for winning the Distinguished Entertainment of the Year category at the Presitigious Akwa-Ibom State Advancement Awards. We are so proud of you,” Viva said on Twitter.
ASAA aims to recognize distinguished personalities both Ikwa-Ibom and non Ikwa-Ibom citizens in politics, academies, healthcare, agriculture, social infrastructure, science and technology, humanities, aviation, transportation, oil and gas, power, corporate social responsibility, and entertainment.
The multi-awarded Filipino artist is not new to international accolades. In 2018, Big Apple Music Awards named her the “Best Pilipino Artist” and “Most Popular BAMA Artist.
