Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo has defended President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to address the nation during late at night.
Panelo defended Duterte’s COVID-19 response, including his decision to update the public usually at the wee hours of the night. The Palace official said the time isn’t as important as the message and the address can easily be replayed.
Panelo said the President has a different body clock than most and usually works at night and sleeps in the morning.
Panelo lamented how certain personalities are inclined on hurling criticisms at the government.
“There are certain personalities in our country today that are bent on criticizing the government and they appear to be not content and not happy with everything or anything that this government does,” he said.
Panelo said the President is doing the best he can and lauded the government’s efforts against the spread of coronavirus in the country.
He said, “Nagiging epektibo ang ginawang lockdown ni Presidente at hindi po maaaring sabihin na naging pabaya si Presidente. Lahat po ay ginawa niya.”
