Despite struggling to get by during the quarantine, a kind-hearted man has donated the money he had collected from begging on the streets to a church in Mandaluyong City to help fund its relief missions.
Tatay Francisco Lopez was seen patiently waiting for something in front of the convent of San Felipe Neri Parish some time last week, Chiara Leornas shared on Facebook on May 2.
He requested to talk to the Parish Priest, and when he finally got the chance to he did an unexpected and inspiring thing — he handed over P3,000 cash to Fr. Hans Magdurulang; wishing the amount could help other people who are in need in this difficult time.
Still hesitant, Fr, Hans asked how about Tatay Francisco’s needs now that he decided to donate what he earned from begging alms. Tatay Francisco just smiled, assured Fr. Hans that he still has enough money to survive as he tapped his pockets filled with coins.
Witnessing the inspiring moment made Leornas reflect that indeed it’s always the thought that counts. It does not matter how big or small you can give as long as it comes from the heart.
The story of Tatay Francisco has been shared on the church’s official Facebook page and has since gone viral.
