Heart Evangelista found the courage to let go of one of her masterpieces for a better cause — to help Filipinos working on the frontlines of the coronavirus disease.
In an Instagram post last May 27, Evangelista announced that she sold her painting “Upended 2020” in order to help frontliners in these trying times.
“Art for a cause,” the artist said as she posted a photo of the artwork. “My painting, ‘Upended 2020,” was sold to Art for Life and the proceeds will go to our dear frontliners. I’m sad to let it go but I’m so so happy that it will be part of someone else’s story.”
Aside from extending help to those in need during the pandemic, Evangelista has also been spending time to finish various art pieces at home. In a report, she was quoted admitting that the pandemic has affected her and her art a lot.
“In the beginning, I guess, like everybody else, I was just adjusting to the pause. But I think, in a way, I had been so busy I didn’t know I needed this pause and so I have been painting continuously,” the socialite said.
“The only thing is I’m running out of oil because I’ve been painting a lot. But I’ve been doing a lot of creative things, like redecorating my house, moving things around, trying to make the atmosphere happy and inspiring and just uplifting,” she added.
