The city of Pasig showed off their COVID-19 testing booths.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto announced some good news to his constituents as he shared that they now have six COVID-19 testing centers. He said that to help end the quarantine faster, mass testing must be done immediately.
Mayor Vico tweeted, “We will continue to do our best with social amelioration. But if we want quarantine to end faster– TESTING TESTING TESTING.”
He added, “We now have 6 active testing booths, strategically placed in our SuperHealth Centers. Salamat sa tulong, Deecon Electronics at Dee Hwa Liong Academy.”
Mayor Vico had earlier shared his enthusiasm that they will soon be able to conduct 270 COVID-19 tests per week after the Department of Health (DOH) granted a Level 5 accreditation to The Medical City.
“We know that broad-based testing is key to slowing down COVID-19. With our agreement with The Medical City after it was granted Stage 5 accreditation, we have increased our capacity to up to 270 tests per week,” Sotto said.
He added that this is a big leap from the previous tests they have with RITM.
“Previously, we’ve only been able to test 30 to 60 per week [under the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine],” Sotto added.
Mayor Vico said that suspected and probable COVID-19 cases, as well as health workers, will be prioritized in their city’s mass testing.
Meanwhile, Mayor Vico thanked the Rotary Club of Makati for donating a 16-bed isolation area to be used as the city’s “step-down” facility for COVID-19 patients.
