Government workers, both contractuals and regular, can now expect to receive a hazard pay as they work amid the community quarantine.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go shared that President Rodrigo Duterte already signed the Administrative Order as requested by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The order stated that government workers who continue to go to work amid the community quarantine can expect as much as P500 daily hazard pay.
These include employees working under the national government agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), as well as government-owned and -controlled (GOCCs).
The P500 hazard pay will be granted to all personnel regardless if they are regular, casuals, under contract of service, job order, or similar schemes.
Workers who are already receiving hazard pay such as public health workers, public social workers, science and technology personnel, and military and uniformed personnel are entitled to the P500 grant but will have to choose whichever is higher.
Those working under the local government units (LGUs) and local water districts are also eligible but might have to expect a bit lower rate depending on the availability of their funds.
“Hindi natin mapipilit kung hindi kaya ng pondo na makaabot ng P500 ang hazard pay. Pero sana magawan ng paraan at maibigay sa lalong madaling panahon,” Go was quoted by GMA saying.
Go, however, explained that only those who have been “authorized to physically report for work at their respective offices on the prescribed official working hours” by the head of the agency or office where they belong will be eligible.
