Women, including transgender women, can avail of free rides going to and from certain terminals in Metro Manila during Mondays and Fridays of March as treat to women in the society.
The free ride program was launched last March 9 in celebration of the National Women’s Month, the Philippine Coast Guard said in a Twitter post.
The “Arangkada: Libreng Sakay Para kay Juana” campaign was launched, enjoining women including transgender women to avail of the free rides going to and from Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), Mall of Asia ( MOA ), Anda Circle, and Port Area.
According to the Philippine Coast, the free ride is available every Monday and Friday of March, starting March 9. It also applies to all women regardless of nationality.
The free ride will be available at 06:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m. from PITX as the point of origin and at 05:30 p.m. to 06:30 p.m. from Port Area and Anda Circle as points of origin of the afternoon schedule.
“There is no need to show a valid ID to avail of the free ride,” the Coast Guard said.
It was also emphasized that the free ride campaign is not only limited to women. The Coast Guard said that “if there are remaining seats, men may also avail of the free ride.”
