Ian Veneracion shared how he and his family accepted his daughter Dids when she came out as a lesbian.
The actor recalled the time when Dids first came out to him about her s
exuality. Ian was on Magandang Buhay with his daughter who shared the h eartwarming incident back when Dids was just 16 years old.
Ian said, “Kinukulit ko ‘yung mga motor ko, dumating siya, medyo teary eyed. Sabi niya ‘Daddy, I have to tell you something.’ Sabi ko, ‘What? Sit down.’ Sabi niya, ‘I like girls.’ Tapos sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Me also I like girls.’ So parang nagtataka siya, sabi niya, ‘It’s okay?’ Sabi ko, ‘Yes. Just don’t be ever apologetic about it, not even to me.’ Sabi ko, ‘You can be whoever you want to be and I have full support.'”
“Natawa siya. Sabi niya, ‘You know?’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo naman, bata ka pa ang macho mo na.’ So alam ko na dati,” he added.
The actor continued how he taught his daughter to learn to love herself and not feel bad about it.
Ian said, “Nakakapanghinayang lang, isa lang ang bu
hay natin. Tapos kapag nabu hay ka parang apologetic ka pa na nahihiya ka sa sarili mo, hindi mo mailabas ang pagkatao mo. Parang what a waste of li fe.”

The actor shared, “Eventually sinabi ko sa kanya (sa asawa ko). Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Paano kapag nagka-boyfriend si Dids, okay lang?’ ‘Okay lang.’ ‘Paano kung magka-girlfriend si Dids, okay lang?’ Sabi niya, ‘Kung saan siya masaya, masaya ako.’ So she has full support of the whole family.”
