- GMA Network will soon air the Pinoy version of the popular Korean variety show called “Running Man”
- It has officially signed a contract with South Korean TV Network SBS on February 11 for the co-production of the show
- “Running Man Philippines” is expected to be on television by 2021
South Korean TV Network SBS has officially partnered with GMA Network to produce the Pinoy version of the popular Korean variety show called “Running Man.”
The two giant TV Networks signed a contract for the co-production of the show on February 11 which was attended by GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon, GMA Network President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, EVP, CFO Felipe S. Yalong, SBS Korea Chief Global Contents Officer Kim Yong Jae, and Global Production & Business Team Director Kim Soo Hwan.
In a statement, SBS Network said they are planning to incorporate the rich Filipino culture and various Philippine artists in the much anticipated Pinoy version of Running Man with the GMA Network.
“We’re not just selling the running man Korean version but the adaptive of Filipino cultures and also Philippine artist,” said SBS Korea Chief Global Contents Officer Kim Yong Jae, as reported by GMA News.
“Filipinos can expect a lot like example in China and Vietnam we had a success so we hope Philippine fans would expect a lot,” he added.
“Running Man Philippines” is the first ever show SBS will co-produce with a Philippine network.
It is expected to be viewed on television, particularly on a GMA channels, by 2021.
The original version of the variety show Running Man first aired in South Korea last July 2010. The show has been running for almost a decade now and still successful in catching the attention of its international audiences.
Meanwhile, the casts of Running Man Korea Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Ji Hyo, Yang Se Chan, and Jeon So Min are set to visit the Philippines for a fan meet on June 21.
