Just a day before Bryant along with his daughter, Gianna and 7 others fell in a tragic helicopter accident that ended their lives, the city of Valenzuela inaugurated a convention center dedicated to him.

Dubbed the “House of Kobe” or also known as the Karuhatan Convention Center, it is the 6th NBA-inspired convention center initiated by Representative Eric Martinez.

Martinez explained that he is such an avid fan of basketball that he made sure their courts were like no other. He said, “Passion ko talaga ang basketball kaya laging NBA inspired yung mga convention center na ginagawa namin. Ginagadahan talaga namin para ganahan naman ang mga kabataan.”

The construction began in March 2019, Martinez hired five local creative street artists to make murals on the walls. Inside the convention center, you will see huge murals of Bryant and his impressive moves on the court.

During the inauguration day, Martinez even addressed Bryant and invited him over to see their center inspired by him. Martinez said in his speech, “The moment this reaches you, Kobe, please come back to Manila. Sana makita mo naman itong convention center that was named after you.”

Martinez a fan of Bryant, said he named the convention center to him because of the inspiration the player gave to many sports enthusiasts like him. He added, “Last week ko lang naisip yan. He’s the greatest player of all time!”
